Lily Jane Collins (born 18 March 1989)[1] is an English-American[2][3][4] actress and model. She is best known for her roles in the films The Blind Side (2009), Abduction (2011), and Mirror Mirror (2012). She portrayed Clary Fray in the fantasy film adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013), based on Cassandra Clare's best-selling novel City of Bones.
Although born in the UK, Lily Collins moved to Los Angeles with her mother, Jill Tavelman, at the age of 5 when her parents split up. She performed at the Youth Academy for Dramatic Arts as a child but her main interest was journalism. She began writing a column ("NY Confidential") for the British magazine Elle Girl in her teens as well as contributing to Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and the Los Angeles Times magazines and went on to major in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Southern California.
"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" may not have been the box-office smash fans of the book were hoping for, but even with that flop under her belt, there's no denying 2013 was a good year for Lily Collins. "Mortal Instruments" was only one of three films in which Phil's daughter starred this year -- "The English Teacher" and "Stuck in Love" both had limited releases in the spring. But with her on-trend style and perfect eyebrows, there's no doubt we'll be seeing much more of Lily for many years to come.
