PARTS OF THE SENTENCE - GRAMMAR LESSON

A sentence is a grammatically independent unit of expression, made up of two essential parts called the subject and the predicate.

In writing, a sentence begins with a capital letter and ends in either a period, question mark, or exclamation point.

The subject of a sentence is the part naming the person, or things the sentence is talking about.

Example.

The dog is barking.

The subject is the dog.

The predicate of a sentence is the part of that speaks about the subject. It tells what the subject does or asserts that the subject is something.

Using the same example:

The dog is barking.
